Chancellor and First Lady Invite Breast Cancer Survivors to ?Ball in ...

Fayetteville State University (FSU) will host their annual ?Ball in Pink? basketball game on Saturday, February 2, 2013, against St. Augustine?s University.? This effort falls under the national umbrella of the ?Play 4 Kay? campaign lead by the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation.

?Play 4 Kay,? formerly known as ?The Pink Zone? and ?Think Pink? began in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness on campuses and in communities.? Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women?s basketball coach, served as the catalyst for the initiative after her third reoccurrence of breast cancer in 2006.? In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success.

All breast cancer survivors or family members of breast cancer survivors who express interest in attending the game will be given complimentary admission, special seating in the Chancellor?s section during the game, a special reception at the conclusion of the women?s game and be recognized during half-time of the nationally televised men?s game.? If you are interested in attending, contact Kevin Wilson at 910-672-2565 or email kwilso10@uncfsu.edu.? The deadline is January 28.

All cancer survivors and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game. To raise funds for breast cancer research, official ?Ball in Pink? T-shirts will be on sale exclusively at the FSU Bookstore prior to and during the game.? You may also donate by visiting the FSU Broncos official ?Play 4 Kay? team page.? Visit www.play4kay.org , click ?donate to team? and choose ?FSUBroncos?. ?All proceeds will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation and the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation Friends of the Cancer Center.

FSU is the second-oldest public institution in North Carolina.? A member of the University of North Carolina System, FSU has nearly 6,000 students and offers degrees in more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
